The Discovery Loop "Ratingen Pur" connects the numerous historical sights of Ratingen's city center and its periphery with the extensive, nature-protected forest areas "Überangermark/Hinkesforst" and "Oberbusch," the largest contiguous forests in the Mettmann district.
The 15.9 km long circular route establishes a connection to the 8th stage of the neanderland STEIG in the Tiefenbroich forest and circles the Tiefenbroich district. Through untouched forests, the path leads to Ratingen's city center, where around the marketplace, a series of quaint pubs, restaurants, and cafes invite visitors to stop by.
Along small streams and lakes, hikers will encounter a number of culturally significant sights such as Poensgenpark, the Cromford textile mill, or the Wasserburg Haus zum Haus, to learn more about the diverse history of the neanderland.
