Miles + Moor

The "Miles & Moor" tour takes you to all three member communities of the joint municipality of Fürstenau (city of Fürstenau, municipalities of Bippen and Berge) and offers you an insight into the diversity of the joint municipality. You start the tour at Schloss Fürstenau, the former castle of the Prince-Bishopric of Osnabrück. Heading north, you pass through the Fürstenauer Tannen, past the nearby Fursten Forest, the largest outdoor area in Europe covering 400 hectares. The tour continues through the idyllic landscape towards Bippen, where the route ascends through the Ankumer Höhen. Through fields and meadows, the tour continues towards Berge. You reach Stift Börstel, a former Cistercian nunnery, via a charming forest path. As you continue, the area becomes flatter, approaching the nature reserves of Hahnenmoor and Hahlener Moor. The tour heads back towards Berge, where a visit to the Museum Meyer Haus is worthwhile. The Neolithic passage grave Hekese is now on the route, taking you back to the Stone Age. After passing through Bippen again, you will soon reach Fürstenau, where you should definitely take the time for a walk through the historic old town.
