The hermitage of the Virgin Mary of Togores (or simply Togores) was built on the remnants of an old Roman structure. It has a semicircular apse that faces east, and on the south side, it is connected to the farmhouse by an arch. The farmhouse, which already existed in the 14th century, retains the vaulted door with a rounded arch. It has been recently restored and expanded.
The earliest documentary reference to the toponym Togores dates back to the year 986, when the place is mentioned in the Cartulary of Sant Cugat. It is believed that the name Togores comes from the Latin “tuguri,” referring to the huts that were used for shelter. We know that the chapel already existed in 1323 and that, during the 15th century, it served as a residence for nuns. At that time, the Togores estate was part of the domain of Sant Llorenç del Munt. The Virgin Mary of Togores has been venerated there since the 17th century.
Since 1922, every year, when spring arrives, a traditional gathering is celebrated there.
