La Terraza is one of Sada's most emblematic buildings and an icon of Galician modernism.
Its origin dates from 1912, when as it was located as a kiosk in the Méndez Núñez gardens of the city of A Coruña, about 20 km from here. In 1920 it was moved to Sada and went on to become the symbol of the economic growth that emerged from the canning industry and grocery trade.
Although its design was slightly modified, this wooden, wrought iron and coloured glass modern construction, it was the perfect stage for one of the liveliest and most social periods of the town of Sada.
Nowadays, La Terraza continues being a wonderful café-restaurant, where occasionally, jazz concerts are still scheduled.
The only Modernist Fair in Galicia is held in its gardens, which is already a must for many holiday-makers to the Rías Altas. For three days, during the first weekend of August, Sada dresses up in its best clothes to return to the 20's and enjoy the dances, markets, exhibitions and concerts of the period, which tour around the town.
Continue this self-guided QR route through the gardens and follow the history of Sada through its sculptures.
