PARISH CHURCH

The parish church of Nuestra Señora del Socorro dates from the 16th century  and belonged to the convent of St. Augustin, located in the southern part of the temple.
 
The church consists of a rectangular floor, formed by a nave and chancel with a vestry behind the high altar. Its entrance door, in a Plateresque-Renaissance style, you will see a delicate wooden relief depicting the Annunciation. The bell tower and discreet steeple also stand out on its façade. 
 
Although the Mass is on Sundays at 12:00 pm and 8:00 pm (summer), the door of the church is open all day all week so you can come and visit what was considered a veritable museum of sacred art. Among the statues is the Virgen de los Milagros, the town's patron saint, which is kept here throughout the year except during Romeria week, when it is moved into its shrine. 
 
Religious celebrations
During July, the feasts of Corpus Christi and the Virgen del Carmen (patron saint of sailors) are held. Two feasts that come together to dress Caión with unique floral carpets and take out the protector of sailors on a maritime procession. 
 
The 8thSeptember, is the Romeria de los Milagros, declared of Tourist Interest in Galicia, although the festivities begin on the Sunday before, when the Virgin is moved to her shrine.
