Air France-vlucht 358 vertrok op 2 augustus 2005 vanaf de luchthaven Charles de Gaulle in Parijs naar Toronto Pearson International Airport. Air France-vlucht 358 probeerde tijdens hevig noodweer een landing te maken op het vliegveld van Toronto, maar het toestel vloog in brand nadat het van landingsbaan 24L-06R was afgegleden. De Airbus A340-300 kwam 200 meter na het einde van de landingsbaan tot stilstand in een diepe greppel. Volgens een ooggetuige kon iedereen snel worden geëvacueerd voordat de brand groter werd. De mislukte landing vond plaats om 22:03 Nederlandse tijd (16:03 lokale tijd). Het vliegtuig, een Airbus A340-313X, had 297 passagiers en twaalf bemanningsleden aan boord. Er vielen geen doden. Vluchten naar Toronto werden omgeleid naar andere, overwegend Canadese, vliegvelden in Ottawa, London (Ontario), Hamilton (Ontario), Montreal, Winnipeg en Syracuse Hancock International Airport in Syracuse. Vluchten uit Vancouver werden teruggestuurd.
