Beginpunt: Rhenen station
Eindpunt: Veenendaal west station
Lengte: 17,5 km (of 10,5)

Vanaf station Rhenen loop je door het bos en tussen de akkers op de flanken van de Grebbeberg naar de bossen op de stuwwal van de Utrechtse Heuvelrug. Door dit uitgestrekte bosgebied kom je bij de Elsterberg. De noordzijde hiervan biedt uitzicht richting Gelderse Vallei. Je wandelt even verderop langs het Egelmeer, een voormalig hoogveengebied.

Via een oud heide- en stuifzandgebied bereik je de Slaperdijk, oorspronkelijk aangelegd om Utrecht te beschermen tegen doorbraken van de Gelderse Rijndijk ten oosten van Rhenen.
