Globespot of the month: Salar de Uyuni, Bolivia

The Pytheas of this month is actually a Pytheas couple: Elke and Danny Grobben.

These 'travellers' from Limburg now live in Shangai, but have previously stayed in Delhi (India) and San Francisco (USA). Keen bikers, they have made several large motortrips around the world. Elke could find some time
to describe their Pytheas spot, inbetween raising her children and all the other activities they have in China. RouteYou is very grateful to you for dedicating the time!

In the summer of 2003, Danny and I drove from San Francisco to Santiago de Chile on motorbike.
During this trip, we passed the salt lake of Salar de Uyuni, in Bolivia. Salar de Uyuni is the largest and most elevated salt lake in the world. This was the most astonishing spot we encountered in our trip. The white salt crust, the silence, the vast landscape bathing in the radiant light is hard to describe but is definitely unique.
