Am Ende der Spätantike wird Arlon zum „castrum“ (Festungsstandort) ausgebaut. Mit nicht weniger als 800m Länge, im Durschnitt 4m Stärke und 8m Höhe war die Wallmauer mit mächtigen Toren versehen und durch mehr als 20 Türme geschützt. Der Neptun-Turm ist eine identische Ausführung des Jupiter-Turms, der sich hinter dem heutigen Rathaus befindet. Das kleine Museum zeigt die Überreste von einem dieser Türme, die bei den Ausgrabungsarbeiten von 1948 freigelegt wurden. Diese Überreste sind stets beeindruckend. In den Fundamenten der Mauer bemerkt man deutlich Fragmente behauener Steinblöcke, die aus dem „vicus“ stammen, darunter ein prächtiges Flachrelief welches „Neptun" darstellt.
