La bateria Halve Maan va ser instal·lada pels alemanys durant la Segona Guerra Mundial, és l' únic lloc FLAK conservat a Bèlgica, un complex de búnquers antiaeri (Flugabwehrkanone o FLAK). El búnquer de la tripulació conservat (R656), un búnquer de comandament, un búnquer de metralladores, diversos llocs d'observació , un búnquer flanquejant i diversos edificis de maó són únics.
Va ser construït sobre una estructura defensiva de principis del segle XVII que es remunta al setge d'Ostende (1601-1604).
