Aquest brollador està estretament associat amb la llegenda de Sant Liví , un missioner i màrtir irlandès del segle VII.
La font és un lloc històric de pelegrinatge. Segons la tradició, Sant Liví va copejar la terra amb el seu bastó durant la seva predicació a la regió, i després va brollar una deu en aquest lloc.
