Questa sorgente è strettamente legata alla leggenda di San Livino , missionario e martire irlandese del VII secolo.
La sorgente è un luogo storico di pellegrinaggio. Secondo la tradizione, San Livino avrebbe colpito il terreno con il suo bastone durante la sua predicazione nella regione, facendo sgorgare una sorgente in quel punto. Questo gesto è considerato un simbolo della sua santità e del suo legame con la regione. Dopo il suo martirio nel 633, dove fu decapitato , si dice che, secondo la leggenda, si sia recato a piedi a Sint-Lievens-Houtem con la testa sottobraccio per essere sepolto lì.
La fonte è costituita da un pozzo con alle spalle una cappella con pilastri in mattoni , in cui è posta una statua policroma di San Livino. L'attuale cappella probabilmente sostituisce un esemplare del XVIII secolo.
