La Universitat Humboldt de Berlín és el centre universitari més antic de Berlín, fundat l'any 1810. La seva fama i nivell l'ha convertida en exemple de moltes altres universitats d'Europa i Amèrica del nord.
L'any 1810, el lingüista i liberal prussià Wilhelm Von Humboldt fundà la Universitat de Berlín , la més antiga d'aquesta ciutat. Divuit anys després fou rebatejada com a Universitat Friedrich Wilhelm en honor del monarca prussià, nom que compartí amb el no oficial d'Universitat Unter den Linden. No seria fins al 1949 quan, en honor del seu fundador i del seu germà, el naturalista Alexander von Humboldt, rebé el seu nom actual.
