L'Ajuntament de Weimar es troba al centre de Weimar, al costat oest de la plaça del mercat de 60 per 60 metres. L'edifici de tres plantes en estil neogòtic, amb un balcó representatiu i un campanar, és un dels símbols de la ciutat de Weimar.
El primer ajuntament en aquest lloc es va mencionar ja el 1396. Tanmateix, aquest va caure víctima del gran incendi de la ciutat de 1424. El 1431 es va construir un edifici de substitució, que es va reformar entre 1560 i 1583 en estil renaixentista. L'edifici es trobava a la cantonada nord del costat oest de la plaça. Es van conservar l'escut de la ciutat i dues portals de pedra d'aquest edifici. Aquests es poden trobar a l'interior de l'actual ajuntament. Un porta la inscripció: "HAT IMANT EIN AMBT, DAS WARTE ER MIT VLEIS" i la nota "VOLBRACHT WORDEN ANNO 1583 IST DIESER BAW".
