Al nord del barri de Ciutat Vella es troba el Parc de la Ciutadella, dissenyat per Josep Fonseré i Mestre amb motiu de l'exposició universal de 1888. Actualment alberga el Parlament de Catalunya i el Zoo de Barcelona, que el seu resident més famós era el goril·la albí "Floquet de Neu" que va morir al 2003 a causa de càncer de pell.
