Fundat el 1976, el Teatre Lliure de Barcelona és un dels teatres més representatius de les arts escèniques de l'Estat espanyol. Actualment és dirigit per Juan Carlos Martel Bayod.
Té dues seus, l'una a Montjuïc amb una sala gran i una de petit format, i l'altra a Gràcia, amb una sala de format mitjà. En aquests espais es presenten espectacles a partir de textos, idees i propostes de diversos àmbits i llenguatges escènics, sempre seguint la voluntat de reflectir la realitat.
