Getafe és un municipi situat a la zona sud de la Comunitat de Madrid. És una de les ciutats més poblades i industrialitzades de l'àrea metropolitana de Madrid. La importància de Getafe també prové de la seva base aèria militar —una de les més antigues d'Espanya— del Cerro de los Ángeles, considerat el centre geogràfic de la península Ibèrica, i de la Universitat Carlos III, el rectorat de la qual es troba a la ciutat.
