Aquest tipus de capella dels sagraments es concep en realitat com una dependència d'una església més gran i comparteix façana amb la mateixa catedral, però alhora té la funció d'església parroquial independent.
El nom Iglesia del Sagrario (Església del Sagrario) s'utilitza per a les esglésies catòliques de diverses ciutats d'Andalusia i Amèrica Llatina.
El Sagrari de Granada té una porta de pedra de la Serra Elvira, amb tres estàtues corresponents a sant Pere, sant Ibon i sant Joan Nepomuc.
A l'espai proper a l' altar major , l'escultor José Bada ha realitzat un bell sagrari de marbre acolorit , que actualment alberga una reproducció de la Immaculada Concepció del mestre Alonso Cano.
