Va ser capella, hospital i confraria al segle XV.
Va ser fundat com a monestir a la primera meitat del segle XVI i les seves obres van ser dirigides pel Llicenciat en Lletres Alonso de Baena. L'entrada principal és plateresca i la porta contigua és d'estil gòtic amb arc florentí.
L'interior de l'església consta d'una sola nau, en la qual s'han conservat importants fragments d'estil del segle XVI .
