Aquest recorregut fàcil de 57 km creua 12 pobles, al llarg dels rius Fluvià, Brugent i Ter. La ruta del Carrilet té un suau pendent de baixada durant gairebé tota la seva longitud, des d'Olot (440 m), fins a Girona (75m). El punt més alt és el Coll d'en Bas, a 558 metres sobre el nivell del mar, que s’hi arribar durant en els primers kilòmetres del passeig. La sortida és òptima per fer en bicicleta en família, córrer o caminar. Passa per l'antiga línia de ferrocarril i està en molt bones condicions, amb nous ponts, senyalització i infraestructura.
