Jakobstad és una ciutat a la costa oest de Finlàndia. Jakobstad va rebre el títol de ciutat el 1652 durant el regnat de la reina Cristina de Suècia. La ciutat va ser fundada per Ebba Brahe, vídua del net del rei Joan III de Suècia Jacob De la Gardie d'on ve el nom de la ciutat . En 2009 Jakobstad tenia una població de 19.673 persones, 19.287 el 31 de gener de 2019, i abans formava part de la regió de la província de Finlàndia Occidental.
