El castell de Chantilly està situat a Chantilly, a la regió de la Picardia a una trentena de km de París, en un indret magnífic de la vall de la Nonette, afluent de l'Oise. «No he trobat encara res de comparable a Chantilly als voltants de la capital, escrivia en 1781 Louis-Sébastien Mercer.
