Calmella és un poble, cap de la comuna del mateix nom, de 65 habitants, de la comarca dels Aspres, tradicionalment adscrit a la del Rosselló, a la Catalunya del Nord.Actualment, juntament amb la vila de Tuïr i els pobles de Banyuls dels Aspres, Brullà, Cameles, Castellnou dels Aspres, Forques, Llauró, Llupià, Montoriol, Oms, Paçà, Pollestres, Pontellà, Queixàs, Santa Coloma de Tuïr, Sant Joan la Cella, Terrats, Torderes, Trasserra, Trullars i Vilamulaca forma part del cantó número 1, dels Aspres , amb capitalitat a Tuïr. Cal destacar que el cantó anomenat dels Aspres no es correspon del tot amb la comarca d'aquest nom, tot i que la coincidència és gran.
