La Charanta , Charente o Chérente en poiteví-saintongès és un riu de la conca d'Aquitània. Neix a Chéronnac a l'Alta Viena a 295 metres d'altura, i després travessa els departaments de Viena, Charente i la Charanta Marítima, abans de desembocar en l'Oceà Atlàntic, entre Port-des-Barques i Fouras per un gran estuari.
