Antoine Marie Jean-Baptiste Roger de Saint-Exupéry , va ser un escriptor, poeta i aviador francès.
Nascut en una família procedent de la noblesa francesa, Antoine de Saint-Exupéry va tenir una infantesa feliç malgrat la mort prematura del seu pare. Alumne poc brillant, va acabar tanmateix el seu batxillerat el 1917 i, després del seu fracàs a l'Escola naval, es va orientar cap a les belles arts i l'arquitectura. Durant el seu servei militar el 1921 es fa pilot, i va ser contractat el 1926 per la companyia Latécoère per transportar el correu de Tolosa de Llenguadoc al Senegal, abans d'arribar fins a Amèrica del Sud el 1929. Paral·lelament va publicar, inspirant-se en les seves experiències d'aviador, les seves primeres novel·les: Correu del Sud el 1929 i Vol de nit el 1931, amb la qual va obtenir un gran èxit.
