L'Institut Curie és una fundació, les principals activitats de la qual són, d'una banda, la comprensió dels mecanismes de la carcinogènesi, amb un centre d'investigació en química, biofísica, biologia cel·lular i oncologia, i d'altra banda el tractament dels càncers amb un complex hospitalari.
« Plegats, agafem-li avantatge al càncer », és el lema de l'Institut Curie. L'institut es troba en diferents llocs. D'una banda, els centres de recerca establerts . D'altra banda, els centres hospitalaris es reparteixen a París, Saint-Cloud i Orsay. L'Institut Curie és responsable també del Centre de protonoteràpia, referent en el tractament d'alguns tumors de l'ull i de la base del crani, situat a Orsay.
