La Batalla de Caen, disputada entre juny i agost de 1944, va ser una batalla entre les tropes Aliades i Alemanyes durant la batalla de Normandia.
Originàriament, els aliats havien de capturar la ciutat de Caen, una de les majors ciutats normandes durant el Dia D. Caen era un objectiu vital per molts motius. En primer lloc, estava situada al costat del riu Orne i del Canal de Caen; aquests dos obstacles aquàtics constituirien un reforç per a les posicions defensives alemanyes si no es podien travessar. En segon lloc, Caen era un nus de carreteres: en mans alemanyes podria permetre als alemanys desplaçar ràpidament les tropes. I en tercer lloc, la zona que envolta Caen era relativament oberta, especialment comparada amb el bocage que cobreix l'oest de Normandia; sent una zona molt valuosa per a la construcció de camps d'aviació.
