La Porta Gayole és una de les quatre portes de l'antiga ciutat fortificada de Boulogne-sur-Mer i està situada al costat sud-est (a l'est hi havia la Porta Flamengue, a l'oest la Porta des Degrès i al nord la Porta des Dunes).
El nom de la porta prové del dialecte boulonés Gaïole, geôles, perquè la volta hi va haver utilitzat com presó durant un temps [1] .
La porta hi va haver construït entre 1227 i 1231 , al mateix temps que la resta de les fortificacions, per iniciativa de Philippe Hurepel de Clermont, llavors comte de Boulogne. El 1689 es va construir un edifici annex, on vivia l'enginyer en cap, que va ser modificat el 1743 i 1872.

La torre va ser utilitzada com a presó entre 1800 i 1850 i el 1944 es va construir un pont de vianants.
La porta segueix un disseny d'estil filipí: dues enormes torres en forma d'U que sobresurten de la muralla envolten la porta. Les torres estan perforades amb voltes d'arc. L´entrada està voltada amb un arc apuntat.
