L'església fou construïda l'any 1735 i incorporada al col·legi de S. Maria all'Olivella. Ella és dedicada a sant Joaquim, pare de la Mare de Déu.
La façana consta d'un tram, encara que dividit per pilastres, i d'un timpà corbat sota el qual hi ha un medalló d'estuc que representa sant Joaquim.
L'interior és una gran sala rectangular amb quatre capelles semicirculars que s'hi obren. Tota l'església està embolicada amb una manta blanca amb estucs elegants que formen serpentines i cares d'àngels. Al vestíbul hi ha un fi relleu d'estuc amb la "Fugida a Egipte" ; dues columnes sostenen el cor i introdueixen la nau: al mur dret hi ha l' Altar del Rosari i l' Altar de la Immaculada Concepció amb dues pintures del segle XVIII atribuïdes a Filippo Randazzo; al mur esquerre hi ha la capella de l'arcàngel Rafael, amb un quadre de 1750 pintat per Pietro Martorana.
