La iglesia fue construida en 1735 y añadida al colegio de S. Maria all'Olivella. Ella es Dedicada a San Joaquín, padre de la Virgen María.
La fachada consta de un cuerpo, aunque dividido por pilastras, y un tímpano curvo bajo el cual se encuentra un medallón de estuco que representa a San Joaquín.
El interior es una gran sala rectangular a la que se abren cuatro capillas semicirculares . Toda la iglesia está envuelta en un manto blanco con elegantes estucos formando serpentinas y rostros de ángeles. En el vestíbulo hay un bonito relieve de estuco que representa la "Huida a Egipto" ; dos columnas sostienen el coro e introducen la nave: en la pared derecha se encuentran el Altar del Rosario y el Altar de la Inmaculada Concepción con dos pinturas del siglo XVIII atribuidas a Filippo Randazzo; en la pared izquierda está la Capilla del Arcángel Rafael, con un cuadro de 1750 pintado por Pietro Martorana.
