El Gran Ducat de Luxemburg és una monarquia constitucional hereditària amb sistema parlamentari situada entre Bèlgica , Alemanya i França . El Gran Duc Enric I n'és el cap d'estat des del mes d'octubre del 2000.
Forma part de la Unió Europea des del 25 de març del 1957. N'és, per tant, un dels membres fundadors. Juntament amb Bèlgica i els Països Baixos constitueix el Benelux.
