Ungheni és una ciutat de la República de Moldàvia, capital del raion d'Ungheni . Amb 38.300 habitants a 1 de gener de 2010, és la setena ciutat més gran del país i un important pas fronterer amb la veïna Romania, de la qual la separa només el riu Prut.
La primera menció històrica d'Ungheni data del 20 d'agost de 1462. Hi ha un pont que travessa el Prut i fa frontera amb Romania. Hi ha una altra ciutat amb el mateix nom a l'altra banda de la frontera amb Romania, a l'altra banda del riu Prut.
