Tot i que la majoria de sureres es troben a l'Alentejo, l'Algarve també té diversos llocs on es poden trobar els roures necessaris. Aquí camineu per un camí de llenya al peu d’un turó en un carril amb sureres de diferents edats a banda i banda. Les roures s’han pelat una vegada cada 9 anys, el nombre del tronc indica quan es va fer per última vegada. La descamació succeeix tradicionalment al juny i al juliol. Malauradament, també és visible que molts arbres moren o ja estan morts, afectats per una malaltia que afecta tots els suros i alzines de la Península Ibèrica.
