Tíana fou una ciutat de Capadòcia que va rebre el nom del rei de Tràcia Thoas. Era al peu de les muntanyes Taure, prop de les portes Cilícies i a la riba d'un riu afluent del Lamos. Fou capital del districte de la Tianitis. Fou la hitita Tuwanuwa i capital del Regne neohitita de Tukhan o Tukhana.
En el regnat de Caracal·la va esdevenir colònia romana. Fou part després de l'Imperi de Palmira i reconquerida per Lluci Domici Aurelià el 272. Valens la va fer capital de la província de Capadòcia Secunda de la qual fou metròpoli, i causà una disputa entre el metropolità de Cesarea, sant Basili, i Antimi, bisbe de Tíana, cadascun dels quals volia el màxim nombre de seus sufragànies.
