El comtat d'Alameda , fundat el 1853, és un dels 58 comtats de l'estat nord-americà de Califòrnia. L'any 2008, el comtat tenia una població d'1.474.368 habitants i una densitat poblacional de 693.1 persones per km², convertint-ho al setè comtat més poblat de l'estat. La seu del comtat és Oakland.
Ja en 1795 es denominava a aquesta regió com L'Alameda. En el mateix any apareixen dos topònims similars: Rierol de l'Alameda i riu de l'Alameda. El 1853 es designa amb aquest nom al comtat. La paraula alameda és una paraula castellana per designar un lloc poblat d'àlbers, xops o diferents varietats de la família de les salicáceas.
