La Batalla del Cap Matapan és una batalla naval de la Segona Guerra Mundial, que tingué lloc a la costa del Peloponès entre el 27 i el 29 de març de 1941. Una força combinada de la Marina Reial Britànica i la Reial Marina Australiana, sota el comandament de l'almirall britànic Andrew Browne Cunningham interceptà i enfonsà o danyà seriosament la flota italiana de la "Regia Marina", sota el comandament de l'Almirall Angelo Iachino.
La força aliada era la Flota de la Mediterrània, consistent en el portaavions HMS Formidable, els cuirassats de la I Guerra Mundial modernitzats HMS Barham, Valiant i Warspite . La flota principal anava acompanyada de dues flotilles de destructors:
