Ved Matreier Tauernhaus er der tale om den ældste dalovernatning i dette område, som engang blev kaldt Gastschwaig og har eksisteret siden tidlig moderne tid. Det blev brugt som lazaret og herberg for de, der besteg Felber Tauern.
Matreier Tauernhaus er et hotel. Ved siden af ligger den dertil hørende gebyrbelagte vandrerparkering, en kapel samt et vandrerhjem.
