Et begijnhus, en gothisk Brabantisk kirke bygget i det 14. århundrede og en gammel romersk krypta: først som religiøst centrum finder kommunen fra det 11. århundrede en vis bymæssig sammenhæng, især under beskyttelse af Sankt Guido, som findes på kommunens våbenskjold. I samme område blev også spor af Erasmus genfundet. Den humanistiske filosofi kom i det 16. århundrede til Anderlecht, og 'Erasmus-huset' (åbent for besøgende) er der det bedste bevis på. I maven af Anderlecht er der kun lidt grønt at finde. Med et par pedaltrin kommer du allerede til den mest urbane del af vores tur. Først når du vender tilbage til kanalen, den største indflydelse på bygningerne i dette område, ser du igen mere grønt.
