Joos Vijd er den ældst kendte ejer af 'behuusde stede ten Walle', forløberen for dette imponerende slot. Slot Cortewalle opbevarer arkiverne fra sine tidligere adelsmænd. Landskabsparken ved slot Cortewalle med bl.a. bihave, krydderhave og vinmark er mere end værd at gå en tur i.
