Joos Vijd es el propietario conocido más antiguo de la 'ciudad habitada en Walle', el precursor de este imponente castillo. El castillo de Cortewalle conserva los archivos de sus antiguos habitantes nobles. El parque paisajístico del castillo de Cortewalle, que incluye el jardín de las abejas, el jardín de hierbas y el viñedo, merece más que una caminata.
