Hoeleden er en delkommune af Kortenaken, beliggende langs højre bred af Velp. Hoeleden var en selvstændig kommune indtil den kommunale reform i 1977. Oprindelsen af toponymeret Hoeleden er usikker, men det stammer sandsynligvis fra det gammeldanske ord hol, der betyder land med fordybninger. Der er opdaget omkring tretten forskellige stavemåder af landsbyenavnet, hvoraf de mest anvendte er Holede, Hoole og Houl.
