På trods af at de ugentlige tirsdags- og fredagsmarked i Hasselt er flyttet til Kolonel Dusartplein, ligger den Store Marked i midten af handelsbyen Hasselt.
Omkring år 1300 opstod dette plads, der blev centrum for Hasselt. Her mødtes gaderne, der førte til de fire byporte. Oprindeligt kendt som Op den marct, fik det også navne som Graenmarct og Coorenmerct, før det endte med at blive kaldt Store Marked.
