Slaget ved Hasselt fandt sted den 8. august 1831 under Tiendaagse Veldtocht. Den belgiske Maastrop under kommando af Daine blev her ved Hasselt besejret af prins Willem af Orange. Prins af Orange førte som øverstbefalende en felthær på 36.000 mand. Han havde planer om at presse sig mellem Scheldetroppen under kommando af Michel de Tiecken de Terhove og Maastrop for at besætte Bruxelles. Maastrop under Daine bestod af 14.500 mand. De var utilstrækkeligt trænet og bevæbnet og måtte ifølge Colenbrander klare sig uden ordentlig artilleri.
