Stedet for det nuværende klokketårn blev tidligere taget af en kirke, der blev revet ned i 1878. I 1932 blev en udvidelse af rådhuset realiseret, delvist til minde om ofrene fra Første Verdenskrig. Denne nye fløj omfattede et 35 meter højt klokketårn og er bygget i røde mursten og kalksten. Indgangen er udsmykket med agern, symbol på byen Eeklo. Arkitekten bag denne nye fløj var Amand Janssens. Rådhuset selv, i flamsk renæssancestil, stammer fra det 17. århundrede.
