Die Stelle des heutigen Glockenturmes wurde früher von einer Kirche eingenommen, die 1878 abgerissen wurde. 1932 wurde eine Erweiterung des Rathauses realisiert, teilweise zum Gedenken an die Opfer des Ersten Weltkriegs. Dieser neuen Flügel beinhaltete einen 35 Meter hohen Glockenturm und ist aus rotem Ziegelstein und Kalkstein erbaut. Der Eingang ist mit Eicheln verziert, dem Symbol der Stadt Eeklo. Der Architekt dieses neuen Flügels war Amand Janssens. Das Rathaus selbst, im flämischen Renaissancestil, stammt aus dem siebzehnten Jahrhundert.
