Le Petit Séminaire, et af de ældste college i Belgien, åbnede i denne bygning i 1806. Under krigen blev bygningerne brugt som tysk felthospital.
Le Petit Séminaire får en anden funktion
Kort efter den planlagte dato for skoleåret blev bygningerne brugt til at huse soldater. I starten var det allierede soldater, men snart blev skolebygningerne et tysk felthospital.
Uddannelse i krigstid muliggør
Ikke kun Le Petit Séminaire blev brugt af den tyske besætter. Alle klostre i Roeselare blev beslaglagt, ligesom hospitalet. Ligeledes blev mange af de andre skoler, som byen havde, beslaglagt.
