Le Petit Séminaire, een van de oudste colleges van België, opende in dit gebouw zijn deuren in 1806. Tijdens de oorlog dienden de gebouwen als Duits veldhospitaal.
Le Petit Séminaire krijgt een andere functie
Kort na de geplande datum van het schooljaar werden de gebouwen gebruikt om soldaten te huisvesten. In het begin ging het om geallieerde soldaten, maar al snel werden de schoolgebouwen een Duits veldhospitaal.
Onderwijs in oorlogstijd mogelijk gemaakt
Niet alleen Le Petit Séminaire werd gebruikt door de Duitse bezetter. Alle kloosters in Roeselare werden in beslag genomen, net als het ziekenhuis. Evenzo werden de vele andere scholen die de stad telde in beslag genomen.
