Café De Karper er bestemt kendt blandt cykelentusiaster, fordi caféens ejer er Ronie Keisse, far til Iljo Keisse. Iljo Keisse, født i 1982, er en belgisk bane- og landevejscyklist. Han har allerede repræsenteret sit land to gange ved de olympiske lege. I 2004 sluttede han på 11. pladsen i madison sammen med Matthew Gilmore. Fire år senere, i 2008, kørte han sammen med Kenny De Ketele til en fjerdeplads i den samme begivenhed. Keisse er også et kendt navn ved Gent Six Days.
