Café De Karper est certainement connu des passionnés de cyclisme, car le propriétaire du café est Ronie Keisse, le père d'Iljo Keisse. Iljo Keisse, né en 1982, est un cycliste sur piste et sur route belge. Il a déjà représenté son pays deux fois aux Jeux Olympiques. En 2004, il a terminé 11ème dans le madison avec Matthew Gilmore. Quatre ans plus tard, en 2008, il a roulé aux côtés de Kenny De Ketele pour terminer à la quatrième place dans le même événement. Keisse est également un nom bien connu lors des Six Jours de Gand.
