Café De Karper is zeker bekend bij wielerliefhebbers, want de cafébaas is Ronie Keisse, vader van Iljo Keisse. Iljo Keisse, geboren in 1982 is een Belgisch baan- en wegwielrenner. Hij vertegenwoordigde zijn land reeds twee maal op de Olympische spelen. In 2004 werd hij samen met Matthew Gilmore 11e tijdens de ploegkoers. Vier jaar later, in 2008, reed hij aan de zijde van Kenny De Ketele naar de vierde plaats op datzelfde onderdeel. Ook op de Gentse Zesdaagse is Keisse een begrip.
